Humanity And Its Rational Ability To Draw Sound Conclusions

The human species is a very social creature. For an individual to feel protected and secured it has to get acquainted and would always find the need to associate with others. Much like the early primitive cave dwellers, it has to seek shelter and refuge by belonging to an organized pack where survival is the social influence. Associating with others influences an individual's sense of reasoning which affects his ability to decide. The choices we make in our everyday life is very crucial to what we may become in the unforeseeable future. Decisions are the choices we make, it could be right and it could be wrong, its result could either be gratifying or devastating.
Humanity is filled with differences. There is always something to compare and choose. If there is no black then there is no white, if no one is short then no one can be tall, if no one is less then nobody can be great, and if no one is wrong then no one is right. But it will be foolish to right one wrong by doing another wrong. And by being the sole intellectual creature to inhabit the earth, we have to decide for the best and not for the worst.

Beyond every territorial walls there is an economic battle going on among nations. Globalization means rapid industrialization and technological advancement which entails fierce competition among nations. We are striving everyday to preserve peace and maintain the sanity of mankind in order for us to survive as a species. We put much effort in trying to resolve global conflicts as civilize as we can in every humane way possible so that we may prevent the occurrence of another world war. But if while trying to promote peace we are also contradicting ourselves with our personal differences and interest then how else can we ever survive. Perhaps the human race is really inclined to barbaric acts such as placing the whole world in an irrecoverable state of devastation and destruction. Needless to say it, but then again, the barbarous nature of man was an established fact ever since the time of the primitive cave dwellers when the first caveman bashed the head of another caveman with a piece of sharp rock, thus discovering the usefulness of the rock as his first tool to hunt for food.

Technology Established Man's Rule On Earth

The humankind reigns as the superior intellectual entity to inhabit the earth ever since man persistently refused to remain ignorant about his existence. Since the dawn of civilization, man was neither mentally nor emotionally contented with his primitive understanding of the way things are but was rather filled with overwhelming curiosity to explore the world around him. Hence, in order for the human race to endure as the dominant species, man realized the necessity of changing his perspective about the world in which he lives in and nurtured his hunger for knowledge by equipping himself with rational thinking ability acquired from his direct experience with nature which further developed man's intellectual process of discovering alternative solutions to simplify the complexities of conventional task for his survival.

As we evolved to become creatures with highly developed brain we learned to develop our creativity in crafting our own tools to build structures and machines. And as we improvise with more proficient methods to improve our skills in the usage and knowledge of tools we began to appreciate the application of science and technology as a revolutionary tool in order for us to sustain life, which is supposedly for the purpose of improving our existence and to contribute for the good of the planet. Having the capability of logical thinking endowed man with the capacity to reason which transformed man's behavior about his sense of purpose and how he adapts to the world around him. This led to man's unending quest to embark in an exploratory expedition in the pursuit of knowledge which resulted in many scientific discoveries and technological innovations that established man's dominion on the planet.

But instead of having the intellectual capacity to live in perfect harmony with nature, having the advantage of being the superior organism over all earthly life forms is now revealing a devastating effect to our existence as well as to other living organisms on the planet. We seem to have lost our primary sense of direction and purpose in sustaining life as greed triumphed over the rational side and eventually revealed the animal side of man.

Technology Education - The Tree Of Knowledge

While mankind progressed in developing more and more sophisticated inventions, man became excessively possessive in acquiring more than what he needs. Man became increasingly obsessed with the endless possibilities of his superior ability in conceiving innovative ideas while disregarding the imminent danger of excessive environmental consumption. Man placed himself in the higher order above all living things on the planet and created civilizations of possessive societies, a civilized selfish society of man with excessive regard for territorial advantage and interest.

Persuaded by greed and arrogance, man established segregation and territorial boundaries to place in a favorable position those who are distinguished superior from those considered inferior, which has become more intensely influenced by racial discrimination, intellectual superiority, economic wealth and the glorification of religious ideology which are all contributing factors that persistently seeks to conquer by using technology to engage in acts of terror and violence, or by creating sophisticated weapons to wage war and annihilate other nations to attain global dominance.

We are now living in an endangered planet as we scavenge through our technological wreckage while we keep on populating and imprudently consume whatever is left of our natural resources. It is of utmost importance for mankind to be reminded time and again to look back and recall his primitive origin, to bring him back to his humble beginning where man respects nature and recognizes the existence of a superior entity above him that governs and maintains a peaceful and harmonious universal order of the existence of life without the insanity of territorial conquest, racial prejudice and religious fanaticism.

Mankind seems to have forgotten that the original purpose of technology is not for the destruction of the planet, that the purpose of scientific discoveries and technological advancement is intended for the purpose of creating a responsible civilized human society that does not resort to acts of lunacy
such as placing the whole world in a chaotic state of being held hostage by creating weapons of mass destruction to establish and expand territorial dominance.

The educational approach in teaching technology education in every public and private institution entails great responsibility and obligation, it must be taught with extreme caution by emphasizing that technology is intended to supplement and not as a substitute for the value of life. This is the most significant factor to consider when promoting technology education to young students, including early childhood education.
