B/W Floatless Liquid Level Detection Induction Control Relay Switch

While liquid level detection float devices applies the practical approach of utilizing the principle of buoyancy which depends mainly on a floating object to detect the liquid level in a reservoir that mechanically actuates a switching mechanism to manipulate an electrical switch output to control a water pump, a floatless counterpart which does not rely on mechanical float mechanism makes use of metallic rods immersed in the liquid which serves as electrode probes to detect the depth of the liquid level in the reservoir.

Using Micro Switch for Mechanically Actuated Water Level Detection Float Switch

Another type of float switch for liquid level control and detection incorporates the use of the micro switch for its main electrical component. Unlike the mercury switch which is dependent on turning the position of the glass vial to cause the liquid mercury to fall by gravity to immerse its electrical contacts to provide a switch output, the micro switch is an electrical switching device fitted with both open and close contacts which is mechanically actuated to provide both open and close electrical switching output states via a pin button accessible on the upright side of its outer casing.

Mechanically Actuated Water Level Detection Float Ball Switch with Mercury Switch

The use of float balls as a component part of a liquid level detection device to mechanically actuate a switching mechanism such as a mercury switch or a micro switch is an effective and economical method of controlling liquid level in liquid tanks or any liquid reservoir. Float level switch is not only simple and convenient in terms of its concept and adaptability in various applications due to its uncomplicated and easy to understand principle but is also cheaper than its more advanced opposite counterpart most commonly known as the floatless liquid level controllers.
