Example of electrical computation formulas for electrical calculation involving the function and operation of DC motors

Example 1: The field winding of a shunt DC (Direct Current) motor has a resistance of 110 ohms, and the emf (electro-motive force) applied to it is 220 volts. What is the amount of power expended in the field excitation?

Why does a 3 phase AC induction motor have to be connected in star delta (or wye delta) configuration - What is the significance and advantage of using star and delta in motor connection

Three phase AC induction motors are known to have a very high start-up surge current. The most practical approach to reduce the high start-up inrush current is by firstly implementing a star (or wye) configuration to the motor's 6 leads wiring terminal during the start-up run of the motor. When the motor slowly picks up speed and a significant decrease in the amount of current is achieved then the motor's 6 leads wiring terminal is then reconfigured to a delta connection.

Understanding Pythagorean Theorem – A Review of the Immutable Pythagorean Equation

Throughout the ages, mankind struggled to seek out ways to understand the measurement of shapes and figures which led to the derivation of many useful mathematical theories.

One of such lasting mathematical knowledge that persisted in modern mathematical applications is the Pythagorean Theorem.

We may recall this theory from our high school or college math subjects although we tend to have forgotten all about it due to infrequent use. Yet in some instances we might come across certain circumstances which would require us to use the Pythagorean Theorem. If you happen to be searching for a simple review about this theory, then read my short but very informative lesson complete with easy to learn examples about What is Pythagorean Theorem – A Recap of the Famous Pythagorean Equation
